Athletics - Eligibility and Expectations for Athletes
Whitney High School competes in the Academy League. An updated schedule of all athletic events will be published and distributed through home rooms the first week of each month.

Students interested in participating in sports should check with the Athletic Director, Bill Crissman, for information about tryouts and/or listen to the weekly bulletin announced in homerooms.

Student athletes must turn in physical forms, parent permission cards, and maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average to practice and play. Student athletes are also expected to be positive representatives of WHS and follow the CIF Southern Section Code of Ethics and Sportsmanship. A fair share donation of $50.00 per sport season is requested of each athlete to help purchase equipment, uniforms, transportation, and other related expenses. Thiscan be paid online or in the finance office.

Absences from classes due to sporting events will be excused beforehand by the coaches- a list of participating team members is to be put in teacher mailboxes prior to the athletic event.

Certain events will be designated as the Spirit Games. Students who attend register with the ASB Commissioner to earn points for their class in the yearlong ongoing competition between classes. Spirit points are regularly announced.
